Founder, CEO
I come from Tornio, from an entrepreneurial family. Teamwork, learning new things and challenging situations excite me the most! The best part of my job is constantly learning new knowledge and skills and helping people and their pets in a professional team. What is most touching in my patient work is to see when a seriously ill animal first begins to eat itself and the expression brightens. At my reception, I always want to focus on a sincere presence and listening to the pet owner.
At the University of Helsinki, I am a specialist veterinarian in small animal diseases. My interests and further education have focused on soft surgery and acute and intensive care of small animals. I do extensive abdominal surgery as well as abdominal arthroscopy surgeries. In acute and intensive care, I need to manage a lot of different areas, so I am also interested in ultrasound examinations of the abdominal cavity and ultrasound-guided sampling. I have worked in several emergency rooms in small animal hospitals and intensive care units and have learned a lot during these years.
There is no lack of speed and dangerous situations in my free time either, as my hobbies include floorball and agility with dogs.

Orthopedics has been firmly drawn to me since the beginning of my studies. After graduation, I applied immediately after the opportunity to join my beloved specialty, to complete a year-long internship in orthopedics under the guidance of an experienced colleague. In addition, I have supplemented my knowledge with several orthopaedic trainings both at home and abroad. However, my clinical skills are not limited to orthopaedics and, especially in day and night emergency departments, I have treated patients from side to side.
As a vet, I am deeply animal-loving and it shows in my front office. It is a matter of the heart for me to provide gentle and conscientious care to each of my patients. I am meticulous in my work and empathic encounter with clients is important to me. My goal is to provide each patient with an individual treatment plan and return to active everyday life as quickly as possible. I want to take care of the joy of moving your pet!
At home I have a couple of big poodles and I spend a lot of my free time with them, both in the woods, in the woods and in the groomers. At the end of the day my mind calms down as I pet my two affectionate rescue cats.

I am a veterinarian from Oulu, now based in Helsinki. In addition to my work, I am pursuing a specialist veterinary degree in small animal diseases at the University of Helsinki. Throughout my career, I have worked in large veterinary hospitals, doing varied practical work in acute and intensive care for small animals. I have both a surgeon's scalpel and an ultrasound probe in my hand. My particular interest is animal anaesthesiology and pain management, the importance of which I want to develop in animal care.
As a veterinarian, I always think about the best interests of both the pet and the owner. What matters to me is the overall well-being of the animal from puppy to senior and the pet's right to a good and pain-free life. I am gentle and calm even in difficult situations in the midst of a rush. I love learning new knowledge and skills and I like doing my job in a multi-professional team.
At home, I enjoy the seascapes, jogging with my poodle Manu. In my spare time, I am actively involved in many trust activities. My passion is to make a difference to the wellbeing of the veterinary profession. I am a member of the board and delegation of the Finnish Veterinary Association.

In particular, I am interested in orthopedics, surgery and emergency patients. I started on duty as a doctor, and during my time off work and in my free time I have deepened my knowledge of working with orthopaedic patients under the guidance of an experienced colleague. I have supplemented my experience with regular courses and lectures, with a particular focus on orthopaedic surgery.
Working with my hands is natural and rewarding for me. I am accurate, responsible and eager to learn new things. In addition to my work, I have developed 3D printing as a tool for clinical work in an animal hospital. It feels like a lottery win to end up in a field where I get to help animals by combining biomechanics, technology and medicine.
For six summers I have worked as a guest port receptionist and liaison boat driver, so responsibility and friendly customer service in several languages have become very familiar to me. The open sea and natural peace keep my feet on the ground. If I'm not at work screwing, I find myself on my little sailboat rattling the engine.

I'm a vet who has lost his heart to cardiology and internal medicine. What is important to me is the comprehensive care of each patient and an individual treatment plan, which is made in cooperation with the owner, taking into account the specific needs of each situation. Solving tricky cases of internal diseases is sometimes challenging, but in my work I am motivated by those moments of success when the appropriate treatment is found and the quality of life of both the owner and the animal improves in the eyes.
Since I graduated as a veterinarian, I have worked in small animal practice in Southern Finland, both in the clinic and in the hospital environment. I have applied for momentum and experience in my career, both in the emergency department and in the ICU, without forgetting the basic everyday practice. At the moment, however, my main interest is heart disease, in connection with which I am going through a series of courses at the prestigious European ESAVS postgraduate training school.
At home, my leisure activities are taken care of by the dwarf schnauzer Väinö. To counterbalance the work, I enjoy drawing and painting, as well as listening to crime podcasts.

Emmi Syrjänen
I am a specialist veterinarian in small animal diseases and treat orthopedic as well as surgical patients, especially sports dogs. My interest in orthopaedics and sports dog medicine was sparked when I was a student with my own whippetin track running hobby. I have a special interest in toe and sensor diseases, their surgical procedures, ligament, muscle and tendon injuries, diagnostics and diagnostic imaging (X-ray and ultrasound examinations of the musculoskeletal system, computed tomography scans).
At my reception, I listen, discuss and try to support and understand the owner's concern. I strive to help the patient holistically and I am thorough and accurate in my research. I want to support and, together with the owner, create a good plan for the dog to return back to the activity. For me, the best thank you is to see the patient move painlessly again on racetracks or everyday runs!
In my spare time, I jog with my Whippet and do agility for my own pleasure. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and chill out in the woods or in the field while moving around. I also love to act as a competition vet at sports dog events.

Already in the very first photographs taken of me, I am petting kittens, and the choice of profession was clear to me from an early age. I graduated as a veterinarian in 1997 and quickly (albeit by chance) ended up doing emergency services and dental treatments at the University Animal Hospital. I was on call there weekly until 2018, and since then I've done almost exclusively dental treatments.
The best thing about my job is interaction with both patients and owners. It's great to “clean up” an inflamed, dirty mouth, and on the other hand, the best thing is when you notice that regular dental treatments and good home care work together. It is also very important for me that we are comfortable at work and everyone around me has a good time. As a veterinarian, I am solution-oriented and approachable, as a human being I have a sense of humor and positive. At home, I have a spouse, three full-grown human children, two dogs and two cats. I love traveling, reading, moving, and large and small dinners.
Since graduation, I have worked in large, well-equipped clinics and hospitals. I have attended ESAVS Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery training courses in 2003-2008, and in addition to training in Root Care and Orthodontics in 2007-2008. Since then, I have participated in the European Veterinary Dentistry Congresses (EVDF) most years since 2011. In addition to dental treatments, over the years I have also developed my expertise in anaesthesia, which in animals is strongly linked to dental treatments and a large proportion of patients are elderly and not completely healthy.

I am a veterinarian specializing in orthopedics and surgery, and I have nearly 15 years of experience in orthopedic surgery. In my daily work, I focus particularly on orthopedic patients -- I do extensive limp examinations, diagnostic imaging and surgeries such as cruciate ligament, patella luxation and fracture operations. Thanks to my solid experience and continuous training, I am able to provide patients with modern and high-quality care.
In addition to orthopedics, I also perform various types of soft surgery, such as tumor removals, abdominal surgeries with both open method and endoscopy, and corrective procedures for recurring ailments. In my work, I especially like to be able to work with other experts in the field in multidisciplinary cooperation to achieve the best possible treatment results.
As a surgeon, I have gained experience even in challenging situations, and my work combines technical precision, calmness and flexibility, and holistic consideration of the patient.

I started my career as a clinic animal nurse with an apprenticeship at a large animal hospital. In recent years, my focus has been particularly on emergency patients and animals requiring intensive care. In addition to these, my special expertise and interest is the care of exotic pets, and I have also gained experience in zoo animals and wildlife management.

My career began after my apprenticeship at a large veterinary hospital working with internal medicine patients, including demanding further diagnostics and endoscopy of the gastrointestinal tract. However, soon after, I moved into the diverse world of acute and intensive care patients, where over the years I have acquired strong experience in always demanding inpatients to the care of urgent surgery patients. At the same time, I have deepened my skills by completing a specialist qualification in this field, also working as a department manager.
I have also trained as a workplace counselor and screen supervisor, and have been honored to accompany numerous students on their journey to their dream profession, and have participated nationwide in the development of guidance and familiarization of clinic animal nurses.
Tommi Malmlund
Before joining Sacrum's team, I worked for five years at a large animal hospital as an anesthesiologist and orthopedic nurse. Typically, my work day includes preparation for surgery patients, anesthesia and wake up monitoring, and care procedures related to patient rehabilitation. Over the years, I have developed precision, pressure tolerance and strong teamwork skills, especially in the operating room environment.
I am professionally motivated and willing to further develop my skills — my goal is to complete a specialist degree in anaesthesia. In addition, I am interested in deepening my knowledge of rehabilitation and physiotherapy for orthopedic surgery patients. I believe that with these skills I will be able to support the holistic care of patients more comprehensively.
Ella Mattila
I am a clinic animal nurse who is attracted to acute and intensive care. I studied in Paimio and eventually graduated with an apprenticeship as a nurse in a small clinic. However, I soon found my way to a bigger veterinary hospital, where I had the opportunity to develop even more as a nurse.
At the hospital, I worked for several years as a manager in charge of the blood bank for dogs — it has been the greatest pride of my career, as I was able to play a significant part in helping animals. I have also completed a specialist qualification in acute and intensive care, and it is in these departments that I most often find myself. Fast-paced workdays and patients whose condition can be transformed from critical to stable fascinate and motivate me.
My free time is also hectic: I actively engage in water rescue and hunting with my dogs, and every summer we go hiking. Nature is very close to my heart, and all the “extra time” is spent there.

Anne Sarajärvi
I am an experienced clinic veterinary nurse and my particular interests include orthopaedics, radiography and anaesthesia. I work mainly as a team of veterinarians who are familiar with orthopaedics, examining and treating lame pets. I especially enjoy diagnostic imaging — I can often be found on the X-ray side in a couple of examinations. In addition, anesthesia and other duties in the operating department are my specialty. I am currently completing my expertise by completing a specialist degree in anaesthesia.
What I particularly like about my job is that I get to be part of a multiprofessional team and that my own job description is very diverse. My key goal in nursing is always to provide patients with the safest and most peaceful treatment experience possible.
I spend a lot of my free time in the forest and field landscapes surrounding my home, with my Parsonrussell Terriers and Border Collies going outdoors.

My career as a clinic veterinary nurse began ten years ago when I started my studies at the Ypäjä Equine College. The traineeships included in my studies I was able to complete in equine hospitals. At the same time, I fell in love with everyday life in the hospital and completed my undergraduate degree in animal husbandry, with an emphasis on small animals. After that, I studied directly with an apprenticeship to become a clinic veterinary nurse. Orthopedics eventually came along, and I especially enjoyed diagnostic imaging in my work — I can often find myself in the hospital X-ray room photographing patients. I have also been praised for my calm and gentle handling of frightened and tense pets. My wish is always to try to make the visit to the vet as comfortable and hassle-free as possible for both the owner and the animal, regardless of the species.
My free time is easily spent with my four small poodles, and in addition, I live in my home with snakes and agate snails.
Kaisa Heikkila
I have always loved animals and about ten years ago I got excited about working in the animal industry. I studied in Australia for Certificate III in Animal Studies (Veterinary Nursing) and graduated in 2018. I completed an internship related to my studies at a veterinary clinic in New Zealand, where I stayed to work for a few years. I've worked in hospitals as big as I've worked in smaller clinics. In particular, I like orthopedic patients and radiography. I also have a lot of experience working in the emergency and intensive care units.
In my free time I like to jog with my dog in nature and do various sports.
Anna Selin
I trained as a clinic veterinary nurse with an apprenticeship. Oral and dental diseases and surgical patients interested me already at the stage of my studies. For most of my career, I have worked with these groups of patients. Teamwork, variable work days and self-improvement keep the work meaningful.
I have also trained as a nurse on the human side and worked as an operating room nurse in the HUS surgery unit.
In my spare time I like to jog with my two cairn terriers and go horseback riding. In winter, my favorite thing to do is skiing.

I graduated as a clinic veterinary nurse in 2019. Anaesthesia has been a particular interest of mine since the beginning, and I have been able to work a lot with anaesthesia in large clinics. I have undergone several further training courses related to anaesthesia, and my goal is also to complete a specialist qualification in this field.
In my work, I am calm, conscientious and precise. I am passionate about learning new things and challenges. In clinic work, it is important for me to create a confident, safe feeling for clients and patients.

I enjoy working with both people and animals -- and especially helping them. I have been working in the animal care industry in customer service positions for several years, and I have become familiar with both emergency patients and care situations that require special expertise. Before the animal industry, I worked in a variety of customer service jobs, but nothing felt as right as helping pets. I am empathetic and listening, and I always strive to find the best possible help for each pet.
Tessa Lappalainen
I started my career at a small veterinary clinic in a customer service role, from where I moved on to a large veterinary hospital as a technical assistant. I completed my degree as a clinic veterinary nurse by apprenticeship, working in all departments of the big house. Although my career is only in its infancy, I have still managed all kinds of patients, from orthopaedics to emergency patients. I enjoy varied working days as well as being an avid cleaner. During the visit, I want to create a fearless and safe feeling for each patient, and the best thing is to help the pet feel better.

I'm Leea Fraktman, a veterinarian who specializes in skin and ear diseases in small animals. Since I was a child, I have understood animals and especially dogs are close to my heart. My family includes three Jack Russell Terriers.
I started working as a veterinarian in 2016, treating all animal species as a municipal veterinarian. From 2019, I switched to caring for small animals only and started familiarizing myself with their skin and ear diseases through specialization studies at ESAVS (The European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies). Today, my particular interests are allergies, autoimmune diseases of the skin, and ear diseases and their treatment. I am happy to help all types of skin and ear patients. Warmly welcome to my reception!
Education:
European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies (ESAVS) postgraduate studies in dermatology on skin diseases such as inflammation, allergies, autoimmune diseases and nail and ear diseases. In addition, numerous short courses on diseases such as crow's feet and paws, skin tumor diseases and skin medications.
